I have switched to regular Ubuntu (Gnome) and am quite happy with it.
So yes, it is a usable workaround. But it's not really the way this
situation should be. It might be minority of kubuntu users who are
experiencing this, but for those, it's really major and should be fixed soon.

After all, I tried kubuntu because I rather wanted KDE and because I want
to support the people bringing KDE to Ubuntu. I just hope it will be fixed
for the November release. :-)
