AFAIK, subfs/submount/supermount are methods that were developed cause of lack
of standard method. Now there is a method with udev/hdal/dbus wich, eventualy,
most distributions will use.

Please, provide more information, so we could find out where the problem is.
When something like this happens, please provide output of lsusb, lshal and
mount commands.
