Yeah, I've seen many an nvidia problem clear up with IngoreEDID, but on the
other hand, for some hardware it really is necessary. I'm at a loss about what
to do in this situation, other than point people to the (really long) README in
the docs from nvidia that give the user all the driver options so they can fiddle.
A possible compromise would be to use laptop-detect to see if we're on a laptop,
and then insert IgnoreEDID, since this problem only seems to happen on laptop
panels, and laptop displays won't blow up when overdriven like some CRTs will,
so it's reasonably safe to ignore the EDID info. Hrm.
