Public bug reported:
Affects: kdebase kicker (Ubuntu)
Severity: Normal
Priority: (none set)
Status: Unconfirmed
Description:
When you open a new session with K-menu and log in as another user the screen of the previous user will be locked if you do one of the following:
1A) switch with "lock session & create new session"
1B) click on <other username>:default <;1, vt8>
The screen will *not* be locked when you do one of the following:
2A) switch with "start new session"
2B) switch with CTRL-ALT-F7 / F8
((Note that 2B) is somewhat inconsistent with 1B). ))
When you do do 1A) or 1B) and then switch back to the previous user his screen will be locked. Unfortunately you first HAVE to move the mouse after switching back before you get the password window.
This is an issue because, when you switch back with either 1B) or 2B) the screen will go black first. This is normally since it changes to the other X screen at that moment. But the user can not know if and when this is finished, since the screen will not change after the switch has been done (it will remain black). Only when he moves the mouse or presses the screen can he notice that the switch was done successfully.
Suggestion: Have the unlock-window appear immediately and automatically
after switching screens. So the user can enter his password as soon as
the screen was switched.
