I've taken a look to your menu.lst file.

Give this a try: I think you need only one instance of the command splashimage. I assume that your (hd0,4) IS your /boot partition. So you shouldn't have to repeat that in the path you specify. Try:

splashimage=(hd0,4)/grub/splashimages/KUBUNTU_splashscreen_blue_neon_logo_03.xpm.gz
instead.

Don't forget to comment "hiddenmenu" !!!
