i could reproduce the problem. when i boot the laptop and the wireless is off at boot, and i click on the laptop button on the front of my laptop to activate it only when im already in kde, i cant activate the wirless connection with knetworkconf.
the problem is here:

if i type sudo ifup eth0
i get this:
ifup: interface eth0 already configured



i have to make sudo ifdown eth0

it could also been solved with a simple dhclient.
