I'm sorry, I thought bug #72869 was a duplicate of this bug, and I
didn't read that bug's whole description beforehand.

In fact, there seem to be two different issues and bug #72869 is /not/ a
duplicate of this bug!

My problem is related to the very latest upgrade of hal, libhal-storage1 and libhal1 
from 0.5.7-1ubuntu18.1  to  0.5.7-1ubuntu18.2, because a downgrade to the former version as described in #72869 solves the problem for me.

Please unmark/separate the duplicate bugs.
