I can too with the same versions.  The icon that won't go away in my
case is for a disc drive, but from others  comments it looks like other
icons won't disappear either.

I tried right click on desktop -> refresh desktop to see if that caused
the icons to become removed but that didn't work either.

Not a terribly urgent bug, but it should be fixed for polish.
