Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.

I agree what are you saying, but on Unix system everythings it's a file,
so selecting a device, in fact, is to select a file.

Btw, for a newbie this can be very disorienting. This sound like an
entry for the wish list to improve usability. Do you agree this?

About the second thing i suggest to open a newbug.
