Hi,

I was just about to report the same bug. This strangely does not apply
to IMAP mails, only to SMTP (and, perhaps POP3, which I don't use).

I could receive and move mails fine, but when sending it would just
pretend to send and there would be no error message.

This was output on the console:

kmail: ERROR: : couldn't create slave : Aufruf des Ein-/Ausgabemoduls nicht moeglich.
klauncher meldet: Unbekanntes Protokoll "smtp".

Please fix this ASAP, it should not be too hard (just a line in the
packaging scripts).
