[Bug 27859] date stamp and su failure

After repeated resets using the Terminal I was finally able to make the datestamp correct. I was not able to this using "su" but was able to sudo date MMDDhhmmYYYY ,
However a log out will cause the bug torear its ugly head again, this time with the date correct but the timezone off by four hours to the East Eastern instead of Pacific and the inability to actovate Administrator mode in the system control GUI--message "Conversation with su failed"
