I think this problem might have same cause as https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/amarok/+bug/42114 So it would be cool if you could check whether it still happens with 1.4.2-beta1 (will be released on sunday - hopefully) -- Amarok shows splashscreen on system restore https://launchpad.net/bugs/47179
