[Bug 48625] Re: Apparent hang when package script wants user input

I'm seeing this too when installing sun-java5-bin and vmware-player
In both cases clicking on details would reveal that it was waiting on user input - but I was unable to provide any input, so I had to kill adept and do
dpkg --configure -a
and then
apt-get install <package>

to successfully install
