I got the same problem in my debian/etch box (ASUS A2K, Radeon 9600).
I'd tried the lastest fglrx driver from ati.com and set all "internal
agp" and "not restart server in gdm" stuff. it dosen't work.

But with the same hardware, kororaa-xgl-livecd-0.2 works perfectly. I'd
tried to copy the same configuration file to debian/etch, but the lockup
come once  again.
