Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kpackage

I run Kubuntu 6.0.6. Using adapt I installed kpackage. If I run kpackage
from the menu, it is run with user priviledges. Then if I select any
uninstalled package from the list, and press install on right bottom
corner, I am prompted for a password in order for kpackage to do its
thing. I enter my user password (remember that there is no root password
on ubuntu). Then I am prompted again. I enter. I am promted again. I
enter. I am prompted.

Looking at /var/log/auth.log it seems kpackage wants actual root
password (which as mentioned above does not exist). The content of
/var/log/auth.log is the following

Sep 19 21:08:30 my-desktop su[9577]: (pam_unix) authentication failure; logname= uid=1000 euid=0 tty=pts/3 ruser=<username> rhost= user=root
Sep 19 21:08:33 my-desktop su[9577]: pam_authenticate: Authentication failure
Sep 19 21:08:33 my-desktop su[9577]: - pts/3 <username>:root

where <username> is my username on the machine (not shown to protect the
innocent).

If you need more information, ask.

Boris

** Affects: kdeadmin (Ubuntu)
