I think the DVD at the end of your command "kaffeine -d /path/to/backup
DVD" should be removed.  "kaffeine -d /path/to/backup"

-d, --device <argument>
              Set Audio-CD/VCD/DVD device path (e.g. /dev/cdrom)

All that would be necessary would be the options (-d or --device) and
the argument (/path/to/backup).  Does that work?
