I've got the same problem.  Screen shot attached.

I had it in Edgy and now Feisty.  I am running a fully up to date
installation of Kubuntu.  Sometimes it works.  I suspect it has
something to do with having a console open that you just sudo'd.

$ uname -a
Linux zd7280 2.6.20-15-generic #2 SMP Sun Apr 15 07:36:31 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux
