The problem  mathew reported on 2007-04-03 could possibly be related to
the fact that the network manager in kubuntu feisty cannot handle static
ip addresses. My installation went through once I manually told the
network manager to connect once I booted from the live cd.

This comment might not belong here, though. The problem with network
manager has been reported elsewhere.
