[Bug 86688] Slow browsing in konqueror

Binary package hint: konqueror

Running Kubuntu Edgy Eft installed from 20070219 daily build with system
to be updated to be current. Kernel is 2.6.20-5-386

Internet settings are statically configured including the DNS servers.
IPv6 has been globally disabled.

Browsing websites in konqueror is extremely slow and can take anything
up to 30 seconds or more to load the entire page. Some site like
mail.google.com fails to load at all and all you see is 'Loading...'

Network response for downloads and other stuff seem fine though.
Browsers work fine in WindowsXP & Sabayon Linux. Which leaves me to
believe the problem lies with konqueror in feisty.

Please let me know if you require any other info/outputs from me.
