You have been subscribed to a public bug:

My TFT:
$ xdpyinfo | grep -B1 dot
dimensions:    1280x800 pixels (301x192 millimeters)
resolution:    108x106 dots per inch

The 10pt screen fonts appear too small. I check on KWord: the DINA4-page
at 100% magnification appears too small as well

System Settings > Appearance > Fonts > "Force fonts Dpi" (which was
unchecked) is set to either 96 or 120. Apply. Uncheck again. Apply.

Restart KWord: the DINA4-page at 100% magnification matches exactly with
a real one Fonts have correct sizes.

All now started KDE-apps show correct dimensions. Exceptions are window-
bars, panel and Konq.

NB: This bug won't occur in SIDUX.

Speculation: the dimensional misfit amounts to 1:0.888888 -- which lets
me assume that Kubuntu sets X to a default of 96 dpi instead of letting
X calculate the resolution itself.

** Affects: kde-systemsettings (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
