Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop

Running Kubuntu 7.04, with internal DVD drive.
When first installed, this distro accessed DVDs ok. After recent updates (kernel 2.6.20-16, kde, etc), cannot access content of DVDs.
When DVD is inserted, the dialog box comes up asking what I want to do (open, play, etc). On selecting open in new window, it gives error; "access denied to /media/Samsung UDF Volume". This error didn't occur (on this box with Kubuntu 7.04) prior to recent updates.
If I use sudo Konqueror , then it gives access to the files on the DVD.

This thread seems to be talking about similar symptoms;
