Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.  I was able to reproduce this bug using the command 'sudo
/etc/init.d/kdm restart' with kdm version 4:3.5.7-1ubuntu6.  kdm did
successfully restart for me however I saw '[: 191: -q: unexpected
operator' in the tty I used to restart kdm.
