Thanks for the bug.  Is ifp an option in how Amarok connects to the
device?  Please check Configure Amarok -> Media Devices -> Add Device ->
Plugin.  There should be an option that reads "iRiver iFP Media Device"

If there's not, then that probably means that the version of Amarok in
the repositories isn't compiled with ifp enabled.  Let me know if the
above doesn't appear.
