[Bug 91296] debconf crashing during update

Public bug reported:

Just finished installing feisty beta5. Running update(adept) I
repeatedly got incorrect nice value errors, eventually causing the
entire update to be aborted. Running Kubuntu inside a Virtual Box with
512mb Ram and 32mb vram
