Thank you for your suggestion.

I'm closing this wishlist because Akregator's middle-click behavior only
follows Konqueror's web browser settings.

To make sure that Akregator will be opening links in new tabs in
Konqueror, go to Konqueror's Settings menu, click on Configure Konqueror
and go to the Web Behavior options. Click on the Advanced Options button
and enable the "Open as tab in existing Konqueror window when URL is
called externally" option.

If you are still experiencing some problems with this option, please
feel free to add your comments.
