I have the same problem.
If I run kcontorl/kcmshell with "sudo" , it's just ok:
roy at roy-laptop:/etc/xdg/menus/kde-applications-merged$ sudo kcmshell --list

kdeinit: Can't connect to the X Server.

but, if I run kcmshell without "sudo", it can't find obex modules:
