Sorry, additional info:
the bug occurred both with the repository version (1.4.5 - kde 3.5.6) and with the version compiled from the source package with: apt-source --build amarok.

Distro: kubuntu gutsy
Kernel: 2.6.22-4.10 (custom)
KDE 3.5.7
