All files from the old package will be removed and the files from the new package will be installed on upgrades.
There should be no remaining files outside /etc. (or other files marked as conffiles, should not be the case for .mo files.)

You can search for packages containing guidance.mo files with 'dpkg -S
guidance.mo'.

If this was fixed in some new package, the versionnumber might not be
bumped properly or something similar.
