Running Etch on 2.6.18-5-686 kernel, Qt: 3.3.7, KDE: 3.5.5, KMail: 1.9.5
and I get the same error message. Same settings in Icedove (Thunderbird)
and I can send mail no problems!

Below is the kmail error message:

Sending failed:
Your SMTP server does not support PLAIN. Choose a different authentication method. The server responded: "5.7.1 Credentials Rejected u9sm6661283muf"
