[Bug 152704] Assigning Static DNS to DHCP Wireless Causes Loss of Connectivity

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: knetworkmanager

(Pardon the lack of advanced diagnostics and stuff, I'm a Linux newbie)

System: Asus G2P Notebook
Card: (Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945 Network Card)
OS: Kubuntu 7.10 RC1

Problem: Program stopped detecting wireless networks

Cause: Assigned static DNS entries but left the IP address set to dhcp
(my ISP's DNS servers are slow, so I prefer to use Open DNS). When I did
this and applied the changes the program hung up. After that it would
not detect any wireless networks, even after rebooting (and setting
Kubuntu to not restore the last session).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Connect to a wireless network (in my case I was connected to one using WPA-personal authentication, if that makes a difference).
2. Leave IP address set to dhcp, assign static DNS entries
3. Apply changes

** Affects: knetworkmanager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
