I can confirm this bug for kmail 1.9.6. enterprise 0.20070907.709405 (ubuntu package:
4:3.5.7enterprise20070907-0ubuntu3). Adding manually
TheIMAPResourceAccount=<Id>
to kmailrc fixes the problem as workaround indeed.
