[Bug 146958] knetworkmanager does not launch at startup

Public bug reported:

This bug only appeared with a recent update to Gutsy.  It was working
fine before.

At startup my network connection is not recognized and I have to
manually configure it in knetworkmanager. Until that time, I have no
network connection at all.

After fixing it, the applet still shows no connection, in spite of the
fact that there now is one.
