I confirm the bug on Kubuntu 8.10, kmail 1.30 (I upgraded from kubuntu
8.04)

I tryed the workaround proposed here (close kmail, pkill kmail, pkill kio, delete all *.index) but the problem still persists.
I am confused. I cannot understand why such a bug is still happening after many time being reported (and many times, as I could see).
