What graphics card and driver are you using?
This behavior is actually a result of crashing X which is probably related to the fullscreen apps which are really fullscreen opengl/sdl apps causing the driver AND/OR X to go crazy.

Please try to start nexuiz in non-fullscreen mode (there should be some
howto in the nexuiz wiki) if your X crashes in non-fullscreen  as well,
then this is not a KDE issue but something on a lower graphics level.
