Sorry, the system is unstable with screen size 1024x768 too. I started 
Amarok playing in the background and tried different programs, 
everything was working as it should. So I took up Firefox for reading a 
newspaper. The screen locked after displaying the first page, though the 
cursor was moveable. When Amarok was to display a new melody on the 
screen it also stopped. What to look for before I try to install the 
system again?
