Check that "dpkg -l kde-guidance-powermanager" shows that you have version 0.8.0svn20080103-0ubuntu8 installed.

If that is the case issue the command:
"for i in `hal-find-by-capability --capability button`; do hal-device $i; done > button.log"
and attach the generated button.log
