I expected KDE4.1 was not going to be usable for me and I was wrong.

The problem is that for displayconfig to work well with a modern xorg it would 
have to have been totally rewritten and there just weren't people available 
to do that.  I personally invested a lot of time in displayconfig during the 
Hardy cycle to make it better.  It's about as good as it can be without a 
total rewrite.

Please keep in mind that there is exactly one paid developer for Kubuntu.  The 
rest of us are volunteers.
