Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: knetworkconf

Package: knetworkconf
Version: 4:4.1.2-0ubuntu2

Serious problem with taskbar network management applet in KDE 4.1 in
Kubuntu 8.10. In Kubuntu 8.04 running KDE 3.6, when system is resumed
or restarted and the user's session is restored, the network management
applet will automatically resume the previously active (default)
wireless connection.

Now, under KDE 4.1, when the system is restored, the network manager
applet comes up but does not re-establish the connection. The user is
forced to manually select the connection and re-establish it.

Another bug related to this is that, when the user's session is resumed,
whatever web browsers or other Internet-related sessions that were
active will resume, even though the network has not resumed. This is
kind of braindead behaviour, because the user will be confronted with a
resuming web browser which will not be able to actually resume its
previous session. This is the default behavior.

** Affects: kdeadmin (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
