Hi ManBoy,
It seems this is a problem that currently will not be fixed, but for the moment there is a solution. Have a look at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SerialMouseHowto - all the info you need to get this working is there. This really should be fixed with a mouse searching facility in ubiquity, and if none is found, then it should ask if the mouse is serial. This is present in Mandriva apparently.
