  If you install xvkbd then launch it via
  /usr/lib/kde4/etc/kde4/kdm/Xsetup it loads, is visible, but can't be
  clicked on from within kdm-kde4.  When using kdm (from kde3) launching
  xvkbd via /etc/kdm/Xsetup it works and functions properly within kdm
  (kde3).  It almost appears that kdm-kde4 is fullscreen with most of the
  screen transparent to allow the background to be visible around the log
  in box, thus the xvkbd is visible but can't be clicked on because it is
  behind the transparent kdm-kde4 (just a theory).
  
  In summary, xvkbd can be loaded into kdm-kde4 but can't be used while in
  kdm-kde4.
