It seems that all the global shortcuts of KDE3 apps don't work in a KDE4
environment. The problem is that Amarok 1.4 (kde3) is the default music
player in kubuntu intrepid and it is simply impossible to do
play/pause/next/previous if Amarok is minimized.

I am using KDE4.1 on kubuntu intrepid x64 without compiz enabled and I
can't use Amarok global shortcuts. It is an important issue for me
because we can't have a working default music player on kubuntu intrepid
for the moment.
