As in my email to Harald, back when I first received his comment:
exactly *HOW* am I supposed to try KDE4 kmail?  It's not an option in
synaptic.

It's more than a little bit unfair to close this bug report when you
haven't actually responded ... either in a useful way to the original
post, or by providing the specific information I asked for, to morph the
above non-useful reply into a useful one.

That is, *YOUR* response "lacks the information needed to investigate
your suggestion".  And it's done so since 9/9, when my response asked
for more information...
