After phase "preparing upgrade" the progress window just vanishes and
upgrade does not proceed. From /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log:

NameError: global name '_' is not defined

Symbol "_" is missing. Adding line "from gettext import gettext as _" to
DistUpgradeQuirks.py solved the problem.
