[Bug 290866] [NEW] Wrong display of thousands separator

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kmail

As my spam folder happens to have > 1000 mails, I discovered that kmail
doesn't respect my locale settings. The language of KDE is set up to
English (UK), but the format for numbers are set up as they are used in
Austria (no thousands separator at all). Kmail shows the total count of
mails in a folder with a comma in the status bar, like "1,220 messages,
0 unread."
