Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adept-manager

I'm running Kubuntu 8.04, and am trying to upgrade it to 8.10. When I
perform the recommended incantation (kdesudo "adept_manager --dist-
upgrade"), the "version upgrade" button is not shown.

I believe that this is because the check that adept performs to see if a
new version is available does not respect my http proxy settings.
Wireshark capture reveals an attempt to connect to rookery.canonical.com
that fails - all web connections on my network must go via the proxy.

This is not a proxy configuration problem per se - adept_manager is
perfectly able to connect via the proxy for normal use - it's just the
(presumed) connection to check for a new version that fails.

I'm using adept-manager 2.1.3ubuntu25.1

Wireshark capture summary (fragment):
84	4.625862	10.0.0.5	91.189.90.132	TCP	36096 > http [SYN] Seq=0 Win=5840 Len=0 MSS=1460 TSV=2303278 TSER=0 WS=7
85	4.626216	10.0.0.1	10.0.0.5	ICMP	Destination unreachable (Host unreachable)

** Affects: adept (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
