I confirm the bug.

Platform: Kubuntu hardy with latest kde 4.1.1 packages on i386, NVIDIA
graphics adapter with latest driver from Nvidia or Ubuntu driver.

And it is a real showstopper. To have a linux distribution where you
cannot use the graphical console in X to edit files with vi or to read
them with less is something that I do not even want to think of.

Please, consider keeping support for kde 3.5 in intrepid.
