I think the issue of Adept crashing when a second one opens should be fixed in Adept 3.0, which is set to be released with Kubuntu 8.10, the Intrepid Ibex.
We are terribly sorry nobody responded to this bug report sooner... Hopefully less of this will happen in the future, and we do appreciate that you took the time to help make Kubuntu better.
