Are the backports repositories "supported"? If so, this dependency
should be fixed.

Besides, who is to say what "regular" users will have? Perhaps someone
was told, or discovered how, to add the repository? After all, adding
that one is quite easy (it's right there in the repo administration
applet). Also, define "regular" user...

You see, that's a very tenuous argument to go on.

Anyways. I'm confirming that I see this on the amd64 arch as well, I
assume the original reporter was i386?
