Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: knetworkmanager

Hi All,

I have a problem which I have been testing with some of the daily Kubuntu-Live disks over the last week.
I have been installing Kubuntu to the hard drive, restarting, removing the default Atheros drivers in hardware manager, blacklisting ath_pci and rebooting.

I then try to scan for wireless networks from the command line, using
the iw tools (can't quite remember the command line from the top of my
head), these pick up my network, and my neighbours but one's too, which
I found impressive!

However, clicking on the KNetworkManager icon in the tray reveals that I
have no available networks to connect to, and although I can find the
network if I set up a manual configuration, the system doesn't even seem
to try to connect to my wireless network when it is configured.

I have checked my /etc/network/interfaces and only have an item for the
lo interface. I can only assume the NetworkManager handles the rest
fine.

Having tried all of the above with the Ubuntu CD gives me a fully
working wireless connection with NetworkManager interface, however my
Black eeePC just looks so goooood with KDE4 on it... Can anyone help me?

Thanks,
TM
