https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems and attach the URL here.

Also, note that you can (generally) work around the muting problems by
selecting additional mixer elements to control via the multimedia
hotkeys using System> Preferences> Sound> Devices> Default Mixer Tracks.
